HADG Ops Update

Sep. 3, 2018

Well, my promise of another update soon™ has clearly been broken. There have been quite a few changes. Mainly, Ghansen has left the team, and D has recently joined us as our new 3D modeler. We're glad to have him as part of the team, and look forwards to our future. At about the same time as D joined the team, we gained our first beta tester. He flies the real EMB-120, and he has been incredibly helpful to the team, even in his first few weeks. We're all looking forwards to the future of HADG, and hopefully we'll have something interesting to show soon!

Latest HADG News

There hasn't been an update lately, so I feel that it's time for a big one. There hasn't been too much progress lately, but that's about to change. The cockpit is almost done, everything left is minor. I've found a few bugs, including incompatibility with Saitek panels and a crash if loaded when X-Plane starts, and am doing my best to fix them. On Friday, I will be visiting the real RV-14. That's it for this update, I'll post another soon!

3D Cockpit Almost Ready for Online Flight

Mar. 16, 2016

In the past weeks, Ghansen has been working on the pedestal, windows, and other parts of the cockpit. A few days ago, I recieved some new files with all of Ghansen's changes. I am now working on getting everything in the 3D cockpit ready for online flight. Mainly, I have been working on texturing parts of the autopilot. As of now, the CRS/HDG select knobs work. Soon online testing will be entirely from the 3D cockpit!

3D Cockpit Becoming Functional

Today, I put the finishing touches on the panel backgrounds. There are no longer any yellow grids on the clock, audio panel, etc. The texturing is by no means done, but it looks a lot better. On the animating side, it's going very well. All of the engine gauges are both textured and working - even the digital displays. The VSI and ASI work, and you can pull the extinguisher handles. Still a lot to be done, but we're getting there.

3D Cockpit Texturing Continues

Feb. 06, 2016

Lately I've been spending quite a bit of time texturing the cockpit of the EMB-120. Ghansen has been spending quite a bit of time on the cockpit as well, but in a different area. He's modeling the leftover bits (mainly windows, seats, and the pedestal), and he will soon begin animations. On my end, I've just uploaded a new photo of the cockpit to the Gallery. There are only a few gauges left on the main panel now!

3D Cockpit Texturing Started

Yesterday (Posting this at 3AM on the 17th), I started work texturing the cockpit. The altimeters are mostly done and the instrument backgrounds are more or less finished, but there's still a lot of work to do. I've got a lot of work ahead of me, but luckily texturing only an issue of time, and I have plenty of that. Anyways, the 3D cockpit is coming along, and you can check out a new screenshot on our FB page and in the Gallery.

Artificial Horizon Nearly Finished

Jan. 30, 2016

Today, I finished up most of the artificial horizon. It matches the Collins EFIS 85 nearly perfectly. The real EMB120 has a slightly different version than what I've retextured the artificial horizon to be, but all the documentation we have is on the EFIS 85 that I've textured it to match. I've also started some renovation work on the overhead, but that won't be finished for a while.

Interior/Cockpit Work Continues

Today, ghansen finished most of the interior, as well as continuing work on the panel. The interior, minus a few minor details, is finished. In the cockpit, he has added most gauges and instruments, and it's looking better than ever. You can see the new panel in the Gallery page, as well as under the EMB-120 portion of the Current Projects page.

Instrument Retexturing Started

Jan. 29, 2016

Yesterday (January 28, 2016), I started work on retexturing the instruments to look and feel more like the real instruments. I started with the artificial horizon. I will continue to retexture the glass intstruments until they look as close as I can get to the real aircraft. The reason I'm only doing the glass is that, when the 3D cockpit is finished, those are the only things that will have to be done in 2D.
